JPS Health Network is a $950 million, tax-supported healthcare system in North Texas. Licensed for 582 beds, the network features over 25 locations across Tarrant County, including John Peter Smith Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, Tarrant County's only psychiatric emergency center, and the largest hospital-based family medical residency program in the nation. The health network employs more than 7,200 people.
Acclaim Multispecialty Group is the medical practice group with over 300 providers serving JPS Health Network. Specialties range from primary care to general surgery and trauma. Description:
The Certified Coder II assigns diagnosis and procedure codes to medical records for day surgery, observation, maternal, and newborn care, utilizing ICD and CPT codes. (Potential Remote) Typical Duties: Assigns codes to diagnosis and procedures of Day Surgery, Outpatient Interventional Radiology, Outpatient Interventional Cardiology, and Observation patient records, following coding guidelines and regulations. Assigns ICD diagnosis and procedure codes to labor and delivery patients and newborn records, including NICU, requiring in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and maternal and neonatal conditions. Ensures correct code sequencing for appropriate reimbursement according to payer regulations. Determines the principal diagnosis and assigns the correct DRG for admitted patients. Verifies patient record details before coding and finalization. Investigates and corrects coding and billing issues on work queues. Queries providers for clarifications to ensure documentation accuracy. Maintains productivity and quality standards. Participates in professional growth activities and uses reference materials. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology or related field, or 5+ years outpatient coding experience in a hospital setting. 2+ years outpatient coding experience in a hospital setting. Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Technology or related field. Experience with inpatient, day surgery, and observation coding.
