JPS Health Network is a $950 million, tax-supported healthcare system in North Texas. Licensed for 582 beds, the network features over 25 locations across Tarrant County, with John Peter Smith Hospital a Level I Trauma Center, Tarrant County's only psychiatric emergency center, and the largest hospital-based family medical residency program in the nation. Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, directs, implements, and assists to provide quality patient care for assigned patients. Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities: Plans, assesses, directs, implements, and provides quality patient care for assigned patients, including modifying nursing care, medication administration, and discharge planning. Provides education tailored to individual patient needs, utilizing the nursing process in coordination with policies and procedures. Monitors changes in patient condition, including recording and reporting symptoms, assessing vital signs, and intervening when appropriate. Performs comprehensive data collection from patient complaints and relevant history. Collaborates with patients to identify treatment goals and discharges patients as appropriate with a written discharge plan. Encourages family participation as suitable for age and situation. Delivers nursing care, including assessment and education tailored to identified knowledge deficits, treatment, pain management, and discharge planning, utilizing the nursing process. Documents accurately in medical records, forms, and computer systems, entering appropriate orders, charges, and other information, meeting standards, policies, and procedures. Delivers quality care by employing multidisciplinary team strategies and minimizing infection, harm, or injury risks. Maintains detailed reports and records, directing care considering age, developmental stage, presenting complaints, and relevant history. Works to maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships with physicians, departments, staff, patients, and visitors. Anticipates deteriorating vital signs or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action. Modifies patient treatment plans based on patient responses and conditions. Collaborates with the patient care team on care plans, incorporating effective hand-off communication. Coordinates patient care and transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations, as applicable. Performs additional department-specific functions as outlined in procedures. Note: This job description is not exhaustive and may change with or without notice. Staff are expected to perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Nursing Diploma from an accredited program or higher degree in Nursing from an accredited school. Current licensure by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners or proof of reciprocity within 90 days. Relevant experience: RN I: 6 months–1.99 years; RN II: 2–4.99 years; RN III: 5–9.99 years; RN IV: 10+ years. Current JPS recognized BLS certification, maintained throughout employment (may be obtained within 90 days of start). Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. Certification in nursing specialty area. Location Address: 200 W.
