Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM-GallupBranch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque,NM.

University of New Mexico-Gallup Branch, AppliedTechnologies & Allied Health Sciences Division, anticipates hiringadjunct faculty to teach face-to-face and/or develop lower division courses (1000-2000 level)in the Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 semesters in the followinganticipated potential disciplines:

Possiblecourses: CJUS 1110 Introduction to Criminal Justice CJUS 1120 Criminal Law I CJUS 1170 Introduction to Criminology CJUS 1350 Self-Defense for Law Enforcement CJUS 1410 Law CJUS 2130 Police and Society CJUS 2140 Criminal Investigations CJUS 2160 Field Experience in Criminal Justice CJUS 2440 Police and Patrol Procedures CJUS 2460 Traffic UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campus of theUniversity of New Mexico located approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque.The University of New Mexico established branch colleges to provide thehighest quality of education for students pursuing post-secondary educationat different locations throughout the state. Branch colleges respondspecifically to the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of theirrespective communities by offering community education programs, career andtechnical education including certificate and associate degree programs, andtransfer programs that prepare students for upper division entry intocolleges and universities.

The Applied Technologies & Allied Health Sciences Division at UNM GallupBranch is seeking qualified temporary part-time faculty members to teachlower division classes in various courses or topics as specified above. UNMGallup instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they areteaching including but not limited to meeting face-to-face with the classduring assigned times that may include evenings or weekends, contentdelivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades,and assessment of student learning as outlined by the division chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven bygraduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated eachsemester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses.Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to thedivision chair.

Wages Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentialsand credit hour course loads. Salary range: $1,135.26 - $1,228.24 per credithour.

Minimum andPreferred Qualifications: Juris Doctorate Degree or aMaster’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or closely related fieldfor all courses except CJUS 1350/Self-Defense for Las Enforcement.Individuals interested in teaching CJUS 1350 should be certified inself-dense (i.e., Department of Public Safety or martial arts).
