Conchin, Cole, Jordan & Sherrod is seeking a full‑time, on‑site Staff Attorney / Research Attorney to join our Huntsville office. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced trial attorneys on significant and complex civil cases. This position is designed for an attorney with exceptional legal writing ability who thrives on complex research, analytical precision, and high‑level motion practice. Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on complex issues involving tort, contract, insurance, and statutory law. Serve as lead writer for the firm’s most complex filings, including dispositive motions, Daubert and evidentiary motions, pre‑trial motions, and appellate briefs. Draft, revise, and finalize motions, memoranda, discovery briefs, and other court filings with precision, clarity, and persuasive excellence. Collaborate closely with senior counsel to anticipate and address legal issues throughout discovery, trial preparation, and post‑trial proceedings. Prepare bench memoranda, analyze opposing arguments, and assist in developing legal themes and briefing strategies. Manage deadlines and maintain accuracy, organization, and consistency across multiple active matters. Support in an appellate counsel capacity with issue preservation, record review, and drafting of appellate briefs and petitions. Uphold the firm’s standards for professional excellence, ethical conduct, and written advocacy. Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Must be actively licensed to practice law in Alabama and be a member in good standing. 3–5 years of extensive legal writing experience, with a demonstrated ability to produce complex, persuasive, and well‑researched filings — including dispositive motions, appellate briefs, and pre‑trial memoranda. Strong understanding of civil procedure, evidentiary standards, and motion practice in both state and federal courts. Prior experience involving personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, medical malpractice, or insurance coverage disputes preferred. Proven ability to analyze, organize, and synthesize complex legal and factual issues with precision and clarity. Exceptional attention to detail, work ethic, and commitment to professional excellence.
