Position:
Law & Motions Attorney (Personal Injury) - Remote
Overview We are seeking an experienced Law & Motions Attorney to join a high-volume personal injury practice. This role focuses on complex motion practice, dispositive motions, writs, and appeals. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in legal research, persuasive writing, and oral argument, with deep familiarity with civil procedure, trial practice, and appellate law. This attorney will work closely with litigation and trial teams to ensure cases are trial-ready, strategically postured, and protected for appeal.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, research, and argue substantive motions in personal injury matters, including:
Motions for summary judgment
Motions to strike/exclude experts
Motions to compel and discovery-related motions
Motions in limine
Responses and replies to opposing motions
Assist trial teams with jury charge issues, preservation of error, and appellate strategy
Handle post‑trial motions (JNOVs, motions for new trial, remittitur, etc.)
Draft and argue interlocutory and appellate briefs in state and federal courts
Provide guidance to litigation teams on strategic motion practice to strengthen case value and posture for settlement or trial
Conduct advanced legal research on complex tort, civil procedure, and evidentiary issues
Collaborate with trial attorneys to ensure all cases are trial and appeal ready, with proper preservation of objections and issues
Train and mentor junior attorneys on best practices for legal writing and motion practice
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school
Licensed to practice law in Texas; federal admissions preferred
Minimum 12 years of litigation and appellate experience, ideally in personal injury, torts, or complex civil litigation
Proven record of success in drafting and arguing dispositive motions and appeals
Exceptional legal research and persuasive writing skills
Strong knowledge of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Texas Rules of Evidence, and Texas appellate practice
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume docket environment
