Description Position : Our client is seeking candidates for full-time staff attorney positions serving low-income immigrants in their immigration legal services needs. There are positions open in the Michigan area, primarily Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Detroit, Ypsilanti, and Lansing offices. This is a chance to join a talented team doing important and challenging work at a critical time.
Program Description Our client is a legal resource center for immigrant communities. Their work is based on three pillars: (1) direct legal services, (2) systemic advocacy, and (3) community education and engagement. They are part of Michigan Statewide Advocacy Services (MSAS), a non-profit law firm providing free legal services to low-income individuals and families, including immigrant communities, older adults, and adults with disabilities across Michigan.
Qualifications
Must be licensed to practice law in Michigan, qualified for admission by waiver, or able to take the next Michigan bar exam.
Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated commitment to protecting the rights of immigrants or persons in poverty.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Proficient with Word, Excel, G Suite, and have reliable internet for remote work.
Experience related to immigration and poverty is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish is a plus.
Relevant lived experience is encouraged to apply.
All staff must reside in Michigan or Ohio by the first date of employment.
Timeframe Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until positions are filled, with onboarding once a month.
