Overview

The Controls / Automation Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining, and leading stable and capable production/business processes as they pertain to Paint Shop equipment and process functionality. Job responsibilities

Maintain Safety - Quality - Delivery - Cost - Environmental - Moral initiatives Enhance machine/equipment capabilities as they relate to safety, throughput, cost, and quality Test and coordinate the implementation of preventive actions in the production process to establish and verify capable and stable production processes Resolve issues associated with assembly automation, process quality, workstations, robotics and automated equipment; troubleshoot PLC controls with electrical components servo-drives, motors, wiring and panels; and review and make PLC program changes on Siemens, Fanuc, Allen Bradley and other machining PLC programs Capture and document changes and update prints as needed; lead, coordinate and facilitate trouble shooting electrical and process issues Lead problem resolution initiatives as they relate to equipment downtime, throughput improvement or any safety concerns; establish, maintain, update and administer electrical and mechanical control plans; participate in all aspects of simultaneous engineering efforts to improve current processes and new projects; and perform any related tasks as needed Work with and supervise skilled trades employees and direct/manage salary manpower Coordinate and manage the 3rd shift, 7-day operation Lead Development and Optimization of Paint Process Equipment, converting ideas into tangible measurable manufacturing gains / improvements Coordinate Professional Maintenance and breakdown activities Standardized Maintenance Procedure (SMP) - creation and continuous improvement Ownership of Powder Prime, Automated Sealer, and PTED systems Basic Qualifications

5+ years manufacturing experience in automotive assembly and/or machining environment Proven program experience with Siemens, Fanuc, Allen Bradley, PLC-5, SLC500 & Controls Logix Must have the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems Proficient in all Microsoft Office products The ability to work a flexible work schedule to troubleshoot and production support Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor\'s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology, and/or advance degree credit Self-directed and motivated Effective problem solving skills Benefits
