Overview
V2X builds smart solutions designed to integrate physical and digital infrastructure from base to battlefield. As a Journeyman Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, and sustainment of a secure, resilient network infrastructure. This mid‑level technical role supports projects involving switches, routers, firewalls, wireless systems, and structured cabling. The position will be located at Patrick SFB and is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X.
Responsibilities
Multi‑disciplined network engineer with experience across wired, wireless, and mobile broadband solutions.
Implements requirements, aids in designs, and creates network topology artifacts.
Assists with developing designs, configurations, and implementations of data networks based on customer performance specifications.
Conducts site surveys and network assessments to determine the best hardware and software components for upgrades, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and security.
Supports preliminary and final SPRIP development.
Conducts systems pre‑tests and acceptance tests to validate designed performance criteria.
Ensures installations are performed within safety standards and restores the site to original or better condition.
Provides Post‑Deployment Over‑the‑Shoulder Training to the O&M team for smooth transition.
Extensive knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP). Supports cyber artifacts such as topology/data flow diagrams, STIG checklists, ports/services, and POA&Ms.
Supports design and implementation of secure networks, systems, and application architectures.
Supports network management such as SNMP, SYSLOG, and orchestration.
Supports LOM to capture all major components and installation materials for successful deployment.
Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
Ensures network solutions follow DAF policies and compliant IT system integrations.
Assists the O&M team in troubleshooting post‑deployment network issues.
Gathers and analyzes system requirements to design and implement secure, scalable network solutions.
Coordinates with local Communication Squadron and regional cybersecurity teams to configure, turn up, and cutover new deployments.
Qualifications
Education: Technical BA/BS Degree; Or High School Diploma or Associate Degree.
Certifications: CCNA or equivalent; CompTIA Security+.
Experience: 5 years with BA/BS Degree; Or minimum 7 years of experience as a Network Engineer for large, complex programs/systems with a High School or associate degree.
Clearance Requirement
This position requires an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Tier 3) level clearance.
Working Environment Office environment with potential to support austere locations.
Physical Activities Must be able to lift / carry 50 lbs.
Material & Equipment Directly Used Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
