Overview
Monitor Tech - 4 Fl Hem/Onc BMT - Per Diem 12 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Union) role at USC CERPP (Center for Enrollment Research, Policy and Practice). Apply through Keck Medicine of USC. Los Angeles, California. Responsibilities
Clerical: Understands and uses computer systems; prints census data for charge RN and census log; updates census log with admissions and discharges; completes A/D/T in the computer system within 30 minutes; completes downtime procedures; handles repair requests; maintains outpatient stay log; processes orders, supplies, and forms; stocks printers and fax machines. Order Transcription: Transcribes all orders accurately and timely; prioritizes stat orders; notifies RN of stat orders; scans orders to pharmacy; enters orders/tests; signs, dates, and times on completion; flags telephone orders for signatures; notifies appropriate department of stat orders as applicable. Customer Service: Demonstrates courtesy, compassion, and honesty; communicates effectively in person, by phone, and in writing; answers calls promptly; identifies self and unit; routes requests to the correct personnel. Medical Records Maintenance: Manages patient records to keep charts in optimal condition; assists with chart components for admissions; adds necessary forms; files diagnostic and lab reports; maintains chart dividers and HIM baskets for retrieval. Teamwork/Collaboration: Completes assignments, maintains professional demeanor, communicates with management and staff; attends unit secretary meetings or reviews minutes; supports orientation of new unit secretaries; assists clinicians in obtaining information; maintains communication about unit issues. Monitoring Functions: Monitors and interprets EKG rhythms; observes EEG patterns for seizure activity; notifies RN/Charge Nurse of changes; maintains monitoring equipment; documents notification times. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Required: Specialized/technical training; successful completion of Medical Terminology exam and basic EKG course. Required: Knowledge of medical terminology. Required: Excellent communication skills in English (read, write, speak). Required: Demonstrated excellent customer service behavior. Preferred Qualifications
Preferred: 1 year of experience as a unit secretary. Licenses and Certifications
Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association. Required: Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card on hire, obtain within 30 days and renew as required. Compensation
The hourly rate range for this position is $22.00 - $37.40. Salary offers consider position scope, candidate experience, education/training, skills, internal equity, and applicable laws and policies.
