As a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician), you will primarily focus on new installations of our cable television and broadband services. You’ll drive a company vehicle, visit customer homes, and represent Mediacom daily to customers. You will learn and perform duties including installation, changes of service, additional outlet installation, disconnection of service, payment collection, and any special requests related to installation. Make customer drop installations (exterior and interior) from tap to antenna terminals on customer equipment in single and multi-unit dwellings, including pre-wired units Perform new connects, reconnects, disconnects (requested and non-pay), add outlets, install/remove converters, and perform upgrades/downgrades of service Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability of picture delivered after installation Work with connectors, fasteners, wire, and hand tools; use customary CATV hand and power tools Complete appropriate paperwork as prescribed by system management Read signal levels with field strength meter; adjust levels in installation problems; install connectors on various drop cables; maintain proper clearances; install tap-off devices Climb poles, ladders, or other structures with proper safety equipment as needed Lift and carry loads up to 100 lbs; work in confined spaces Use VOM or DMM to check for open/short lines and to measure AC/DC voltages Read general drop system layouts from blueprints Inform customers of FCC rules and company policies as they pertain to customers Drive company vehicles; perform vehicle upkeep and maintenance Generate additional company revenue through effective sales techniques and by informing customers about product options, campaigns, and promotions Perform other duties such as clean-up and salvage of materials; provide general assistance to other employees as directed Perform installations and changes of service in compliance with applicable codes, requirements, guidelines, procedures, and safe work practices to provide an outstanding customer experience Position Requirements

No experience required High school diploma or GED required Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record General mechanical and consumer device knowledge Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co-workers Ability to work in high or tight spaces Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required Physical Requirements

Physical effort includes frequent handling of heavy objects (approximately 50-100 lbs) and heavy hand tools Get to know us:
