Job Summary The IT Disaster Recovery Analyst is responsible for supporting IT Disaster Recovery (IT DR) strategies for IT infrastructure services. The role involves developing operational IT recovery scripts, managing planning activities for business resumption and contingency certification tests, providing test day support, consulting on recovery strategies for new platforms and driving automation of recovery steps. The analyst also ensures continuous improvement of the recovery processes and supports infrastructure recovery during actual contingency events.

Responsibilities

Manages and controls the processing of programs and peripheral equipment on mainframe and/or distributed computer systems to ensure the highest levels of service and system availability are attained.

Establishes production runs, ensuring that appropriate job control language, run documentation and data files are available.

Assists in job set-up, performs problem identification, escalation and resolution. Communicates status of operations to allow for immediate response to service disruptions.

Key Aspects of the Role Planning, coordinating and executing IT disaster testing between data centers and environments (Cloud, Colo, on prem).

Day-to-Day Expectations Participate in all facets of planning, coordinating and supporting IT DR testing; update documentation; participate in the daily agile process with JIRA/KANBAN style work.

30-60-90 Day Expectations

30 days – learning the ropes.

60 days – gaining knowledge to shadow colleague in testing coordination and support.

90 days – showing the ability to independently support an IT application failover – recovery test.

Qualifications – Top Hard Skills

Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Excel).

Business Continuity and IT Disaster Recovery (IT) experience.

Moderate understanding of IT technology (DB, Middleware, network, WebSphere).

Project management skills for small to medium size projects.

Experience in the Agile methodology (JIRA).

Nice-to-Have Hard Skills

Strong interpersonal skills for communicating, coordinating and disseminating detailed information to support IT DR / resiliency across multiple teams.

Strong problem solving, analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.

Team player who can operate independently.

Strong written communication skills for developing post-test summaries, customer communications, and process documentation.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
