Deposits Counsel A CFPB regulated bank is seeking an experienced Deposits Counsel to provide legal guidance and regulatory support related to deposit products, services, and operations. This role will support the Bank's retail and commercial deposit business lines, ensuring compliance with consumer protection laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Provide legal advice on federal and state laws governing deposit products, including checking, savings, money market accounts, and certificates of deposit.

Advise on consumer protection regulations including Reg E, Reg DD, Truth in Savings Act, UDAAP, EFTA, and CFPB rules.

Support product development teams in designing compliant deposit‑related products and features (e.g., overdraft, early direct deposit, digital wallets).

Draft and review customer agreements, disclosures, terms and conditions, and marketing materials for accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Monitor and interpret legal developments, rulemakings, and enforcement actions from the CFPB and other relevant agencies.

Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Product teams to mitigate legal and reputational risk.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.

Minimum of 5 years’ legal experience, preferably with a focus on consumer financial services and banking law.

Deep understanding of deposit‑related regulations and CFPB oversight.

Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
