Health Education Teacher 2025-2026 School Year Overview

To provide direct instruction to students in Health Education in order to deliver Framingham Public Schools’ high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap among subgroups within the schools. A valid Massachusetts Teaching license in Health/Family and Consumer Science is required. Additional content area license is encouraged. Licensure requirements are subject to change at the discretion of DESE. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Regular and reliable attendance is required. Experience evaluating student skills and writing reports to interpret findings. Strong collaborative, teaching, coaching, and leadership skills; strong problem-solving and data-collection skills; strong verbal and written communication; strong organizational skills; proactive, solution-focused approach; knowledge of specialized content areas and related laws and procedures. Ability to plan and implement lessons based on district and school objectives and the needs of students; and to use instructional technology appropriately. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s). Attends staff meetings and serves on staff and/or school committees. Participates in staff development programs. Other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned. PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. Must input information into a computer and read material from a monitor or printed material. Must communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff in person, via email, and by phone. In the classroom, must be able to see and hear to ensure safety and provide instruction. May be exposed to bodily fluids, disease, or pathogens; may face aggressive students. May be required to interact with students, parents, and staff and meet multiple demands from several people. May spend time outdoors for recess, fire drills, and special activities. REPORTS TO:

Building Principal and Department Head. The performance will be evaluated per the Framingham Teachers Association (Unit A) Contract. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
