Environmental Health & Safety Specialist – Morgner Construction Management Corp.
This position offers a pay range of $50.00/hr - $50.50/hr. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Responsibilities
Conduct construction site safety audits to identify improper procedures, check equipment and facilities for hazardous conditions, and recommend corrective actions
Monitor policies, procedures, programs, standards, and design criteria affecting construction safety at multiple projects
Investigate complaints and on-site accidents to determine root causes and recommend effective hazard controls
Conduct noise, ventilation, and gas testing at construction sites and make appropriate recommendations regarding employee exposure to unhealthy conditions
Provide safety and standard reporting procedure training for Project Managers and on-site employees
Collect and analyze injury, claim, and safety survey data to write technical reports and present findings to contractors and District management
Coordinate construction safety activities, participate in pre-bid and post-award meetings as a member of the Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) team
Review Injury Illness and Prevention Programs (IIPPs) submitted by contractors for accuracy and conformance with safety standards
Train, assign projects and tasks to lower-level personnel, and review reports for completeness and accuracy
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications Minimum Required Experience:
10 years' full-time paid professional construction safety management experience in developing and implementing accident prevention programs for a large private or public organization
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in industrial or environmental engineering, Occupational Safety or Industrial Hygiene or closely related field
OR Professional Safety Certification
OR Two years of college with a Professional Safety Certification and an additional 2 years of full-time professional paid experience in construction safety management
Completion of the OSHA 500 and 40-hour HAZPOWER courses is preferred
One of the Following Credentials is Preferred:
Any Professional Safety Certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)
Licensed Safety Professional (LSP) from NASP
Certified Safety Manager (CSM) from NASP
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) from ABIH
