Position Summary: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Qualifications: B.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field. State of Michigan certification in teaching in appropriate subject area. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Effective oral and written communication skills. Must be punctual and reliable. Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology. Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and state. Desired Qualifications: Understanding of procedures and functions related to special education within the school system. Experience in urban education and Title I funded schools. Culturally responsive communication skills with parents, students, staff, and community members. Commitment to collaboration, professional growth, and self-reflection. Bilingual skills are a plus. Experience teaching in diverse student environments and team teaching environments. Essential Functions: Assess students’ skills and develop teaching plans accordingly. Adapt lessons to meet individual needs and develop IEPs. Teach and mentor students in various settings. Implement and monitor IEPs and behavior plans. Maintain accurate student records and communicate progress to parents and staff. Use technology to support instruction. Manage classroom behavior and establish a positive learning environment.
