The Assistant men’s and women’s Track and Field / Cross Country Coach supports the head coach in all aspects of the NCAA Division III Track and Field and Cross Country programs. This includes the recruitment of student-athletes, coaching emphasis in track and field in the jumps, high hurdles and short sprints, student-athlete mentorship, fostering a positive team culture aligned with the college’s academic and athletic mission. Responsibilities
Participates in planning, development, and direction of all team training and conditioning activities to improve the Track and Field/Cross Country program’s position in the North Coast Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III. Supports recruiting academically and athletically strong applicants for the selective applicant pool in partnership with the Office of Admissions. In partnership with the Office of Advancement, assists the Head Coach in developing and maintaining a strong alumni and parent support system and with fundraising efforts. Performs administrative operations including budgeting, social media, team travel, room reservations, meals, and equipment procurement (in coordination with Purchasing). Engages team members in community service activities. Fulfills additional duties in teaching, committee work, and administration as determined annually by the director of athletics. Assists with facility and game management duties as determined annually by the director of athletics. Develops meaningful connections with students, staff and faculty by being available and visible on campus. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree required. One to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge and understanding of the sport. Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes. Proven prior success in coaching the jumps, high hurdles and short sprints preferred. CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification is required (and can be completed after hire). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of teaching technical skills in Track and Field; ability to interpret a variety of instructions and make administrative/procedural decisions. Proficiency in basic Word/Excel and ability to learn recruiting software. Work Environment
Flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or holidays. Travel for athletic contests, recruiting, coaches’ meetings and conferences is required. Regular travel in outside weather conditions; exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, dirt, and dust. College driver certification is desirable. Additional Information
