We are currently looking for an Assistant Teacher/Floater who has at least two years of experience working with children 6 weeks to 6 years of age in a child care environment. This position reports to the Center Director and is responsible for supporting aspects of the classroom according to TCCC's guidelines and guidance from the classroom teacher. The assistant teacher assists the classroom teacher in implementing daily activities that are appropriate to the developmental needs of the children in the classroom. The assistant teacher helps create a warm, accepting classroom atmosphere that encourages the social, emotional and academic growth of all children enrolled in the program. Duties
Ensure that programming efforts are implemented in a trusting environment that enables children to learn at their own pace. Assist classroom teacher with circle time, art activities and other programming efforts as needed. Ensure the physical space in the classroom allows children to move about freely. Create areas that provide choices and variety appropriate to children's developmental potential; maintain a classroom environment with routines and predictability. Assist children as needed with feeding, toileting, and personal care as it applies to their development. Ensure the safety, well-being and security of all children at all times. Be responsive to the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of children and create a nurturing environment to promote self-concept. Maintain sight and sound supervision of children at all times and never leave a child unattended. Requirements
Ability to provide developmentally appropriate activities to foster children's growth and development. Ability to listen and interact with others (children, parents, co-workers, and Center Management). Ability to communicate ideas orally and in writing in English so others will understand. Willingness to continue training in ECE-related topics and areas that benefit the children in your care. Ability to be an appropriate role model for children and staff, setting a positive tone in the classroom. Lift children weighing up to 50 pounds. Make eye contact with children at their level and interact with them during the day. Nice To Haves
A four year degree in ECE or related field An Associate's degree and/or a CDA Benefits
You may be eligible to participate in the 401k plan if you meet the eligibility requirements which include working a minimum of 500 hours per year. Senioriry level
