Overview Work Program Instructor role at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).

Job Responsibilities

Prepares lesson content and instructional activities to improve students' content knowledge, mastery of skills, and overall content knowledge.

Delivers content using established distance learning instructional delivery platform where applicable and demonstrates technology proficiency in district-endorsed instructional applications.

Establishes clear communication with students, Teacher of Record (TOR), and all personnel within the distance learning and site instructional delivery platform.

Advances the mission and vision of the School District and the Agency.

Adheres to safety and housekeeping standards established by the district, state, and other regulatory agencies, displaying professionalism and leadership by following policies and procedures.

Performs other job-related duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements State Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma and relevant program experience.

Additional Requirements

Must be able to demonstrate practical applications of creating products or services (auto mechanics, carpentry/woodworking, welding, robotics, coding, gaming, or other career readiness opportunities preferred) and have experience and knowledge in instructional practices, methods, and strategies, including workshop/classroom management based on positive reinforcement.

Good observation skills.

Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the designated trade.

Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in the trade.

Knowledge of techniques, methods, requirements, and practices used in the designated trade.

Maintain effective working relationships with others.

Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies and procedures relevant to the area of employment.

This position may involve duties related to custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the DJJ jurisdiction; training applicable to these duties will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma and relevant experience in a trade pertaining to creating saleable products and/or job certifications, preferably in auto mechanics, carpentry, woodworking, welding, robotics, coding, gaming, or other career readiness opportunities.
