Role Assistant Safety Manager
Responsible for assisting the Plant Safety Manager in all safety, health, and fire safety activities and programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities
1/3 of daily job duties will be production floor visibility, engagement, auditing and coaching
2/3 of daily job duties will be divided into the following assignments:
Assist with accident investigation
Management of the company’s safety inquiries (i.e. near miss, safety suggestions)
Respond to safety inquiries on all levels regarding safety concerns
Assist in ISO 45001 development and implementation
Assist the safety manager with all initiatives and goals
Apply safety programs and policies to meet company goals
Perform OSHA compliance audits
Perform WF policy audits
Lead Behavior Based Safety initiatives at the facility
Administrative work (i.e. filing papers, AS400 data entry, etc.)
Qualifications/Experience
Associate degree in safety and/or actively pursuing a safety degree | 3-year maximum timeline
Completion of OSHA 10-hour session
Foundry/Leadership training
Kaizen/6S (Continuous Improvement)
Product Knowledge
DWI’s, CS’s, QP’s, etc.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Point)
Knowledge of OSHA regulations
Knowledge of ISO 45001 management system documentation/system
Applied knowledge of safety policies and procedures
Experience with working with all levels of organization
Knowledge and ability to audit safety systems and plant facilities
Qualifications/Skills
Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for safety risk
Self-motivated and organized, able to prioritize workload
Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, and judgmental skills
Effective presentation and persuasion skills
Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
Presentation skills including development of materials
Strong desire to maintain a safe and healthy workplace for all employees
Travel Requirements
Annual Travel Requirements
Assist peer review team at any facility
Attend one professional development opportunity per year (minimum)
Assist other facilities as needed
