Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Provide customer service expertise.

Sell and recommend products on a technical level; meet with customers and others internally to sell flow control and heat tracing products; use sales tactics and product expertise to enhance the sales environment.

Sell company products and services by processing orders, price and delivery inquiries, providing technical and application information, soliciting orders and suggesting additional products in a fast-paced environment.

Maintain responsibility of orders from quotation to collection, including selecting and specifying products, responding to inquiries, processing orders and acknowledgements, and reviewing purchase orders for special conditions.

Check availability and verify ship dates; suggest related items to increase order size; review customer buying history.

Process and expedite orders, returns, and vendor returns; locate products, create purchase orders, and follow up with vendors for timely delivery.

Promote and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and customers; negotiate pricing and delivery with vendors when necessary.

Work closely with Outside Sales to solicit business, execute orders, and maintain superior customer service levels.

Communicate effectively as a member of the Branch/Division inside sales team and build rapport with customers through problem solving, attention to detail, and professional service.

Maximize gross margin by providing superior service, problem solving, and technical expertise.

Resolve customer issues such as warranty claims, product returns, credit and collection, and other service issues.

Other duties as assigned by Management.

Essential Physical Functions/Equipment Used

Able to operate standard office equipment (computer, multi-line VoIP phone system, printer/copier/scanner, etc.).

Must be able to sit for long periods while viewing a computer screen.

Previous experience with Prophet21 (P21) or similar CRM/ERP systems.

Preferred Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in Industrial Distribution, Engineering & Management, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering; equivalent experience may be substituted for degree requirement.

5+ years’ experience in a Customer Service/Application Engineer role with an Industrial Distributor preferred.

Previous experience with Process Flow Control equipment required; valves, instrumentation, actuators, hoses strongly desired.

Work Environment

Modern, multi-function office environment.

Normal hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday; additional hours as needed.

In accordance with applicable wage transparency law requirements, the typical estimated total compensation for this position is $29-$33/hr depending on experience, including potential bonus opportunities. Bonus amounts can be tied to company, location and/or individual performance, but no specific amount is guaranteed. All full-time associates are eligible for typical employment benefits expected from an industry leader (including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, life insurance, time off, employee assistance, etc.).
