Position Overview

The Berhe Soil Biogeochemistry Lab at UC Merced is recruiting a postdoctoral scholar to join the lab. The postdoc will primarily work on a project related to deep soil processes. Our research program explores diverse areas, such as soil organic matter dynamics in natural ecosystem systems undergoing rapid transformations (due to changes in climate, land use and land cover, fire, erosion, etc.), deep soil layers, and other fundamental research questions related to biogeochemical cycling of essential elements in the soil system. We also welcome potential candidates who are eager to develop their own research projects within these areas. We value collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches to research. We are looking for highly motivated candidates with strengths/interests in (a) soil science, physical geography, environmental engineering, ecology/ecosystem sciences, (b) data analysis, or (c) design and implementation of novel field and lab experimental methods.
