Job Title: Fabric R&D Manager
Role Overview: The Fabric R&D Manager will be responsible for the sourcing and development of all RTW materials including fabrics, yarns and trims. A textile expert ensuring highest quality, sharpest cost and best timing. The role is responsible for initial sourcing from concept through production.
Responsibilities
Partner with Design to source new and innovative materials each season, attending fabric appointments and managing a physical fabric library.
Maintain up-to-date records of all materials, lab dips, and samples on a seasonal basis.
Build seasonal material and color boards for key meetings.
Communicate color and quality comments to mills at all stages of development, following up on pending submits to ensure all materials have an approved standard.
Help strategize future fabric commitments for core materials.
Analyze and report out fabric costing ensuring the team is on track to hit fabric price buckets and counter materials when needed.
Assess problems and make solution recommendations to the greater team.
Correspond daily with mills on all fabric development, managing relationships.
Monitor number of materials and ensure the team is staying within development targets.
Expedite lead times and help position fabric to increase speed to market.
Assist production in reviewing and commenting on bulk materials.
Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills & Education
Minimum 5 years of textile sourcing experience and/or product development.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and open to change.
Ability to adapt to new situations quickly.
Entrepreneurial mentality; creative problem solving skills.
Exhibit personal leadership and strategic mindset.
Experience working with factories and mills directly.
Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Salary $90,000-$110,000
