Health Fitness Specialist - Brentwood, TN
We are hiring a Health Fitness Specialist in a Premier Retirement Community in Brentwood, TN. The Specialist will support residents in fitness programming across the fitness center, group fitness studio, aquatic center, exercise program design, fitness testing, customer service, group exercise on land and in the water, and other Fitness Center initiatives. The Specialist reports to the facility Manager.

Summary of position:
The National Institute for Fitness and Sport is looking for a Health Fitness Specialist (20/30 hours per week) for our premier retirement community fitness center in Brentwood, TN. This role requires applying specialized education and training with independent judgment to ensure quality across Fitness Center amenities and programs.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a health-related field from a four-year college/university (required)
Relevant job experience
Ability to teach basic group fitness classes on land and in water
Ability to safely and accurately prescribe exercise for older adults using ACSM guidelines
ACSM Health/Fitness Specialist Certification preferred; other industry-related certifications (CPT, CSCS, etc.) acknowledged
Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification required
Responsibilities
Assess health status of members, from apparently healthy to high risk, and provide exercise and wellness recommendations tailored to each individual
Exercise prescriptions: evaluate goals, health history, fitness test data, physician recommendations, ACSM guidelines, and other information to create effective programs
Health forms: evaluate forms per ACSM guidelines and process applications with professional judgment
Create educational and program-specific materials for older adults, ensuring safe and accurate health information
Teach group exercise classes on land and in water; offer activities that meet various fitness levels; maintain safety while keeping classes inviting and well-attended
Supervise the fitness center and address member questions related to health, fitness, and wellbeing
Conduct orientations according to facility guidelines and QA procedures
Assist with marketing programs and services to members and residents
Collaborate with staff to clean equipment and facility areas as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
