Overview
All positions are located in Fresno/Clovis CA Responsibilities
Provides interpreting and translation services in person, by telephone or other remote technology to non-English and limited-English speaking patients and their families in various healthcare settings. Ensures all questions/concerns regarding services are answered and clarified before the end of the session. Serves as a culturally sensitive liaison between patients, their families and hospital staff. Informs and/or educates various healthcare personnel on culturally sensitive matters that may affect the delivery of patient care; helps facilitate resolution of problems related to differences in cultural practices, views, or beliefs when necessary. Assists with coordination and logging of language requests through outside interpreting services agencies and telephonic interpreting. Maintains interpretation records and files, including daily computer entry of statistical data; completes documentation according to standards and procedures. Establishes video, phone and contracted language provider remote technology connections with callers and troubleshoots equipment. Maintains contracted language provider standards and continuing education as required for contracted language provider network participation. Translates all assigned information and documents into the required language accurately and at a level easily understood by the reading audience; unless certified as Translator, each translation is proofread for accuracy and content by a staff member with translation education/in-process certification. Makes presentations on language, cultural sensitivity, appropriate use of interpreters and translators and other related subjects as assigned. Conducts special projects as requested by management. Acts as a mentor to the Healthcare Interpreter 1. Performs equipment rounding assignments as assigned. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education
— High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required. Completion of 40-hour Healthcare Interpreter training certification required. Associate's Degree preferred. Experience
— 2 years of experience interpreting and/or translating in a healthcare setting required. Proficiency in Medical Terminology in both English and target language required. Licenses and Certifications
— One of the following is required: CCHI - Certified Healthcare Interpreter; NBCMI - National Board Certified Medical Interpreter. Other Qualifications / Notes
