25-26 AY Temporary Faculty Pool (Lecturer) – Curriculum & Instruction at California State University, Fresno. Position Summary
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate, credential, and/or graduate courses offered by the department. See below for links to the CI, EHD, and ERE course catalog descriptions, and include the course(s) that you are interested in teaching within your letter of interest. Responsibilities
Adhere to and implement university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm/final exams. Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid). Conditional Appointment
Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association. The order of work starts with tenure line faculty and ends with new lecturer appointees. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions). Compensation
Commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range placement. Salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For Temporary Faculty with a Master’s degree, the expected range is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs), with starting salaries usually near the minimum. Actual salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term. Anticipated Semester
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Appointments from the pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; those interested in remaining beyond that time must reapply. Fall 2025: August 18, 2025 – December 22, 2025 Spring 2026: January 15, 2026 – May 22, 2026 Required Qualifications
Education
(from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent): A Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field. Experience
Demonstrated commitment to excellence built on merit, talent, diversity, accessibility, and equal opportunity for all. CI and ERE courses: 100-level courses require at least a Master’s degree; 200-level courses require a Doctorate. Credential courses require a teaching credential and relevant TK-12 classroom teaching experience. Commitment to teaching excellence in higher education, evidenced by teaching experiences and evaluations or other evidence. Successful teaching experience in a higher education setting. Recent experience teaching at the PreK-12 level. Application Procedures
