Adjunct Faculty - History at Virginia's Community College System (Northern Virginia Community College). The position is part-time and requires teaching in the designated discipline to a diverse student population in various formats (face-to-face, remote, and online). Teaching load is up to 12 credit hours in fall/spring and up to 8 credit hours in summer; workload depends on student enrollment and staffing needs. Adjunct appointments are pool postings with no guarantee of continued employment. Must reside in the DMV area (DC, VA, MD).
Responsibilities
Teach specific classes in the designated discipline. Develop course syllabi and instructional materials. Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress. Adhere to NOVA and VCCS policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintain current competence in the discipline. Essential Functions
Meet assigned classes regularly, submit required records and reports, teach prescribed courses with approved texts, and adhere to professional ethics as per College policies and regulations. Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May assist the agency or state government in case of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's / Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in history or a master’s with at least 18 graduate semester hours in history Prior experience working as an archaeologist/archaeology project manager Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience teaching in higher education Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying proficiency Other Information
