Teach specific classes in the designated discipline. Develop course syllabi and instructional materials. Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress. Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS. Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization. Teach face-to-face instruction; remote or online teaching options may occasionally be available. Manage adjunct teaching load up to 12 credit hours in fall/spring and up to 8 credit hours in summer; teaching load based on student enrollment and staffing needs. Must reside in the DMV metro area if selected for hire. Essential Functions

Provide quality instruction by meeting assigned classes regularly, submitting required records and reports, teaching prescribed courses with established texts, and adhering to professional ethics as per College policies. Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA’s / Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in psychology or a master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in psychology Additional Considerations

Degrees in social or developmental psychology Graduate coursework in social or developmental related areas Prior experience teaching in higher education Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency Experience working with a learning management system (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.) Experience teaching online/asynchronously Other Information
