Position:

Ophthalmic Technician II Under the direct supervision of the department supervisor, the Ophthalmic Technician II plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive ophthalmic care. The technician assists the physician in gathering patient data and maintaining a conducive clinical environment, performing a variety of essential tasks including visual acuity testing, visual field testing, lensometry, auto refractometry, refractometry, pupil assessment, extraocular motility, gross external examination, applanation tonometry, tonopen, eye drop instillation, diagnostic testing and participation in patient care within a clinical setting. The technician also maintains patient medical records, ensuring an efficient and organized workflow. Schedule:

Monday–Friday, Full Time. No nights or weekends. Responsibilities

Conduct visual acuity testing, visual field testing, lensometry, auto refractometry, refractometry, pupil assessment, extraocular motility, gross external examination, and applanation tonometry. Perform tonometry using tonopen and administer eye drops as directed. Carry out diagnostic testing and participate in patient care within a clinical setting. Maintain patient medical records and ensure an efficient, organized workflow. Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations:

Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT), Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC), Certified Retinal Angiographer (CRA), or Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT-C) required Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a COA, COT, COMT, OSC, CRA or OCT-C Proficiency in all aspects of ophthalmic patient care, including advanced procedures Demonstrated proficiency in refractometry, applanation tonometry, and other ophthalmic tests Ability to troubleshoot most eye issues and work with various electronic health record systems Some experience with diagnostic testing Knowledge and Skills:

In-depth knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, physiology, and pathology Strong technical skills in operating ophthalmic equipment Strong math and science skills with the ability to understand complex concepts Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficient computer and data entry skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Benefits
