KIPP NYC . About KIPP NYC: KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of 18 free, public charter schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in the Bronx, with a vision that every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities. Today, our network consists of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Forward, a program to support students and alumni in choosing and preparing for educational and career paths that fit their goals. KIPP NYC currently serves more than 12,000 students and alumni, with a staff of more than 1,000 (8% of whom are alumni), and continues to grow. About KIPP NYC College Prep High School: In August 2009, KIPP NYC College Prep High School (CPHS) opened its doors to serve students graduating from KIPP middle schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Upper Manhattan, as well as other New York City students seeking a rigorous, college-preparatory high school program. CPHS educates over 2,000 students in grades 9-12 across two locations, with a strong focus on college preparation and a wide range of electives and clubs. CPHS graduates have strong postsecondary outcomes. Position Overview
KIPP NYC is looking for teachers who motivate and educate, develop academic and character skills, and make a college preparatory education relevant for today and the future. Duties and Responsibilities
Plan a college preparatory curriculum aligned with school standards and New York State Standards to foster critical thinking. Deliver thoughtful, rigorous daily college preparatory lessons. Assess student progress and communicate results to students, families, and colleagues. Provide individual and small group instruction until all students achieve mastery. Model the school’s values in all communications with students, families, and staff. Demonstrate a “whatever it takes” spirit to ensure student success. Advise a small group of students to support their four years of high school. Qualifications
Strong interpersonal skills and a collegial work environment; values include zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and humor. At least two years of teaching experience preferred. New York State teacher certification in the appropriate content area preferred. Bachelor’s degree required. Passion for team-oriented, mission-driven school culture. Desire to grow as a teacher by joining the KIPP NYC team and family. Demonstrated success in raising student achievement within KIPP NYC communities. Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $70,829 – $142,270 per year. Compensation is determined by an equitable scale consideringexperience, certification, and tenure. A generous benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision; vacation, sick, and personal days; extended summer break; up to 12 weeks parental leave; child and elder care benefits; life insurance; disability coverage; and professional development funds.
