Overview
Ottawa University Ottawa, Kansas (OUKS) invites candidates for a full-time, Spring 2026 Semester, Computer and Data Science Faculty position. The successful candidate will develop and teach a broad range of courses at the undergraduate level in the Computer Science program. Additional responsibilities may include teaching math and management information systems courses. The role includes providing engaging instruction, academic mentoring for undergraduate students, curriculum design, and collaboration with campus support services. Responsibilities
Teaching Load: Teach a full-time course load, defined as four courses per semester (12 credit hours). Course load may include supervision of laboratories, experiential learning, or other variations, determined in consultation with the Dean of Arts and Sciences. Primarily undergraduate computer science courses; may include math and management information systems courses. Teaching Standards: Maintain high standards of classroom teaching with engaging pedagogy; stay current with issues, curriculum, and approaches in both liberal arts and the discipline. Advising: Provide academic advising to students majoring or minoring in the discipline; provide mentoring and guidance outside formal advising as requested by students or advisors. Service: Participate in campus and university-wide governance and contribute to academic issues across the university. Scholarship: Engage in research, writing, presentations, and other professional activities to remain current in the discipline and liberal arts. Assessment: Participate in university-wide assessment processes to maintain effective curricula. Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science required; Doctorate preferred (ABD considered) in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field. Work Experience: Three years of higher education experience (preferably in a residential liberal arts setting) and/or five years of industry experience preferred. Required Skills and Abilities: Excellent teaching aptitude; ability to collaborate with faculty and student-support departments; ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate level; ability to meet deadlines and adhere to policy; flexibility to respond to student and campus needs; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
