Assistant Dean of Admissions . The Assistant Dean for Admissions is responsible for providing collaborative and strategic leadership to coordinate initiatives that improve student recruitment, student admissions, and student enrollment within the School of Dentistry (SOD). The Assistant Dean is the School of Dentistry’s strategic leader for recruitment and admissions. In collaboration with the SOD community, the Assistant Dean cultivates a school-wide commitment to nurture all members of the community with inclusive behavior and values. In collaboration with the Director of Inclusive Excellence, the Assistant Dean advises the School of Dentistry leadership on institutional issues related to inclusive excellence, well-being, and social justice in health care to recruit learners who can provide patient care in a socially responsible manner.

Duties And Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Supervision Supervise and provide leadership to the admissions team members. Provide leadership in recruitment strategies (short and long term) and processes to ensure a student body able to provide care to all patient populations. Supervise and initiate recruitment and admissions activities to achieve institutional goals and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards. Oversee the budget for the Admissions Office in consultation with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Collaborate with department heads, division directors, and program directors to promote an inclusive learning environment. Collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Advanced Education to provide strategic operations to ensure equitable processes for enrolling learners into the Advanced Education Programs. Provide leadership for the Pre-doctoral DDS Admissions Committee. Collaborate with the Director of Inclusive Excellence. Collaborate with Assistant Dean of Student and Resident Affairs and the Director of Development to provide scholarships for learners. Planning and Service Represents the SOD on university and national level committees focusing on admissions and recruitment processes. Provide pertinent data for accreditation documents, outcome assessments, and ADA and ADEA reports. Collaborates and provides consultation to the DH, DT, PASS Admissions Committee, and Advanced Education Committee. Reviews and facilitates recommended adjustments to the admissions processes such as institutional metrics, tools for selection, interview format, etc. Oversees the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures designed to maximize the efficiency of the admissions process and the effectiveness of the admissions team. Investigates resource options (grants) and procures funding to support admissions initiatives and pathway programs. Collaborates with the office of Student and Resident Affairs for student event planning (e.g., student orientation, scholarship selection). Collaborate with internal and external constituents on strategic recruitment initiatives. Additional responsibilities include coordination of the activities and initiatives of the office with the critical stakeholders across the University of Minnesota. Develop and participate in scholarship and professional development activities related to Admissions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications DDS, DMD, PhD, EdD or equivalent terminal degree 5 years of experience in higher education admissions, recruitment or related field 2-4 years of leadership experience Preferred Qualifications Training in inclusive excellence Competencies in recruiting diverse candidates Knowledge of dental school operations Experience supervising staff and managing teams Experience and/or proficiency with admission base platforms (such as Slate, Kira, etc.)

Pay And Benefits

Pay Range:

$150,000-$190,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience Time Appointment Category:
