Leave Replacement: Elementary School Teacher (Grade 4) Position: Elementary School Teacher (Grade 4) – Leave Replacement

Note: This is a maternity leave assignment requiring a licensed elementary teacher. The position involves implementing district approved curriculum, documenting student progress, addressing individual educational needs, and maintaining a safe and effective learning environment. The successful candidate will provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding progress, expectations and goals.

Essential Functions

Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.

Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.

Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to optimize instruction time.

Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.

Instructs students in responsible citizenship and other subject matters as required by laws, administrative regulations and school district procedures.

Continues professional knowledge development by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or through research.

Organizes and maintains system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.

Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

Ensures student conduct conforms with school standards and policies and maintains the necessary standards of pupil behavior to achieve a productive learning environment.

Coordinates with other elementary staff, participates in faculty meetings and committees.

Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies; maintains inventory records.

Supervises students in activities outside the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.

Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.

Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of current teaching methods and pedagogy with the ability to differentiate instruction based on student learning styles.

Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.

Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and action planning.

Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.

Ability to use computer networks and software applications as needed.

Ability to organize and coordinate work.

Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.

Ability to engage in self-evaluation for performance and professional growth.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Qualifications

Certification/License: NJ State Certification as an Elementary Teacher; NJ State Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is a plus.

Job Details

FLSA Status: Exempt

Leave Replacement – Salary: D, BA following the established BBEA Salary Guide ($61,825.00)
