This includes overseeing the advancement of the PSA SMS, risk assessments, change management and the policies/procedures established around the SMS. This position will create and oversee SMS training throughout the company. The successful Manager will be a team player possessing excellent communication and organizational skills. Job Responsibilities Manage the PSA Safety Management System (SMS) covering all areas of the Company. Create, update and maintain the SMS policies, procedures and training for all company employees and all external vendors. Ensure company compliance with applicable IATA, DOD, and FAA regulations regarding SMS. Update and maintain the PSA Safety Policy and Procedures (SPPM) Manual. Facilitate the drafting, completion and finalization of all SMS Risk Assessments and Management of change forms. Oversee and conduct safety risk management on: implementation of a new system; revision of existing system; development of operational procedures; identification of hazards or ineffective risk controls through safety assurance processes. Input and maintain all SMS documentation into the SMS database and ensure compliance with regulations. Conduct an annual review of the SMS to evaluate system performance with all working groups. Monitor the effective implementation of policies, procedures, and programs through the Safety Assurance Process. Identify hazards or ineffective risk controls through safety assurance processes; conduct and oversee comprehensive risk analysis, audits, observations; work with management to develop mitigation strategies. Conduct safety investigations of significant operational mishaps and perform safety evaluations at facilities to proactively identify and mitigate hazards. Analyze safety event data to develop and improve safety programs and initiatives. Develop and distribute safety articles, alerts, and briefs; issue relevant SMS communications throughout the company; oversee the SMS newsletter. Ensure completion of all SMS training for the entire company. Represent PSA at industry meetings and exchange safety information. Lead and facilitate the SMS Data Analysis group and Standards Board meetings; lead and facilitate the Company Standards Board (CSB) meetings. Support accident/incident and injury-reduction efforts by developing proactive safety programs and sharing safety data and trends. Oversee OSHA management and tracking of employee on-the-job injuries (OJI); share injury data with SMS groups and injury taskforce meetings. Coordinate, track, and report all injury/illness, accident, and incident reports; prepare and distribute reports to authorities as required. Oversee company safety committee meetings and conduct safety promotional presentations to raise awareness of the PSA SMS program. Assist the Director of Safety and Regulatory Compliance in the Emergency Response program. Responsible for PSA Airlines’ safety promotion, training, and safety culture initiatives. Interface with FAA, union representatives and management on safety issues and the SMS; maintain positive relations with all levels of management, employees, customers, and regulatory agencies. Oversee the Internal Evaluation Program and coordinate/lead IATA Operational Safety Audit and Department of Defense Audit. Responsible for the Company’s Security and Safety Management System outputs and related risk analyses. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Specifics Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation or Aviation Safety Advanced technical degree in safety, engineering, or aviation-related field or related discipline Minimum of 5 years of experience in the airline industry At least 3 years of safety program experience Outstanding leadership and management skills Excellent writing and communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office English communication proficiency Authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred Previous managerial experience FAA Airman Certificate Additional Information Delegation: In absence, responsibilities delegated to Director of Safety and Regulatory Compliance.
