Qualifications: Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of any General Education Development (GED) Testing Program. Florida State Statute mandates that all high school coaches hold a valid Florida Educator Certificate. Applicants who do not hold a valid Florida Educator Certificate will be required to obtain an Athletic Coaching Certificate from the Florida Department of Education. Knowledge of the sport and the ability to impart this knowledge.

Responsibilities:

Operate a program within the philosophy of the school.

Administer game details for home and away contests.

Assign specific duties to assistant coaches.

Ensure all information and materials are conveyed to assistants.

Be aware of legal responsibilities, take precautions against negligence, and keep staff informed.

Care for, maintain, and order equipment and facilities.

Recommend assistant coaches and letter winners.

Use professionally sound coaching methods.

Set a good example for assistants.

Be highly competent in the sport (rules, techniques, strategies, skills).

Motivate staff and players toward goals.

Maintain positive public relations within the school, community, and other schools.

Interpret the program to the community as part of the educational program.

Review current developments and technical information related to the role.

Ensure adherence to safety procedures.

Perform other duties assigned by the principal or athletic director.

Follow federal and state laws and School Board policies.

Physical Requirements: Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently as needed.

Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits are consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Work year and hours are established by the School Board.
