Job Summary Manages the operation of nutrition services to ensure that a quality, nutritious, and cost effective meal program is available daily to students, staff, parents, and the community. The frequency and percentage of time of duties may vary based on building assignment.
Responsibilities
Manage daily operation of nutrition services and ensure quality meals are prepared and served in a cost-effective manner.
Oversee use of commercial kitchen equipment with emphasis on safety and efficiency (steam tables, convection ovens, coolers, freezers, etc.).
Coordinate with district staff to meet nutrition, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
Communicate with students, staff, parents, and community members regarding meal services as needed.
Support adherence to DEC regulations and ServeSafe standards; obtain/maintain ServeSafe certification within the first 45 days of employment.
Supervise kitchen staff and oversee training and development to maintain efficient operations.
Qualifications/Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of experience in a position with the use of commercial kitchen equipment (steam tables, convection ovens, coolers, freezers, etc.), customer service, food preparation, and supervisory experience.
Mathematical skills including basic calculations and application of job related math concepts.
Ability to work with detailed information/data and maintain strict confidentiality of written and oral information and records.
Per DEC regulations, must have or be able to pass ServeSafe course within the first 45 days of employment and maintain certification.
A valid Alaska driver’s license and use of personal vehicle. Must be able to gain access to military installations.

Compensation & Benefits
New Hire Hourly rate: Grade 4A: $19.19-$21.46 DOE
Internal Hourly Rate: Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement
Work day: 6 hours
Work year: 9 months
Bargaining unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)
This position offers an excellent benefit package, including: accrued sick and personal leave, paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, and hearing, and retirement (PERS).
