As an on‑call Driver/Social Service Attendant, you will assist the Social Services Director with daily tasks such as picking up donations, managing the food pantry, and supporting program operations. This is a non‑exempt, as‑needed position with no minimum weekly hours. Schedule
Monday – Friday with possible evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours typically vary from 7 am – 3 pm. Education & Experience
A High School diploma or GED completion is required. Ability to read and write clearly in English. A valid WA driver’s license is required. Qualifications
Must be 21 years old and legally authorized to work in the U.S. Valid Washington state driver’s license and ability to pass TSA MVR check and in‑house driving test. Commercial driver’s license preferred with passenger endorsement. Must take and pass The Salvation Army’s Driver’s Training and Testing Program. Current Food Handler Permit, which can be earned after hire. Current First aid and CPR card, which can be earned after hire. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand, or walk 80% of the shift. Ability to operate a pallet jack and other warehouse equipment. Ability to push or pull moving carts and racks that vary in weight up to 300 lbs. Food safety knowledge and experience. Strong verbal and communication skills. Can work with people of various economic and cultural diversity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Drive daily to pick up and transport donations. Inventory food and assist with bringing food up for distribution. Properly store perishable food according to food safety guidelines. Wear appropriate uniform and TSA logo gear. Maintain the target inventory list and keep the donation area sorted and organized. Maintain a mileage log as required by the accounting office. Keep vehicles clean and sanitary; fuel up, wash, vacuum, and clean inside. Alert the Operations Manager of any needed vehicle repairs. Drive for other programs when necessary or as assigned. Secure the vehicle in the parking lot after use. Break down and haul cardboard to the recycler as needed. Haul donations to thrift stores as needed. Clean up trash and debris around the dock entrance and trash area. Assist the social service director in daily food pantry operations; lead operations when the director is unavailable. sweep and mop the pantry and main hallway; mop up spills immediately. Maintain the warehouse weekly; sweep, mop, organize, and prevent pileups. Empty trash in the warehouse daily at shift end. Communicate with stores and vendors to confirm pickup of food and supplies. Lift boxes and load/unload from vehicles. Operate a pallet jack to move pallets of food on and off transportation. All other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to schedule work and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Flexible work habits; assist where needed and supervise staff. Customer service mindset. Fast‑paced environment and maintain poise under pressure. Pass Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines, including TSA background check. Software‑Related Skills
Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook. Data entry – learn required skills to enter client information. Basic internet skills. Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist continuously. Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects and file‑cabinet drawers; reach overhead. Use hand to finger and handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Operate the telephone and desktop or laptop computer. Lift 20 lbs and lift 50 lbs on intermittent or continuous basis. EEO Statement
