Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 6923) GameStop is a global retailer of video games, electronics, and gaming merchandise dedicated to delivering exceptional service and experiences for customers. This role supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, promotes a sales culture, and provides outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and a shared passion for gaming. The position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly; respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously; assist guests with gaming needs; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction; thank guests and circulate through the store to prioritize service. Support the overall shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that drive sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system, including making correct changes, bagging merchandise, providing receipts, and ensuring top-notch guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as needed. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-ins, and Pro Rewards. Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for store associates and training staff on policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed to align with guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document feedback in the Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to openings or closings; associates should know all job aspects, policies, inventory control, loss prevention practices, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Coordinate with the Store Manager to schedule associates, manage breaks, and maintain staffing for optimal guest service. Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify accurate pay for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in working order. Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct safety checks and communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties. Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits per guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct inventories, and report discrepancies to the Store/ District Manager. Process defectives/ recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists. Maintain guest and associate safety; report injuries per guidelines. Maintain store records and update manuals as needed. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence. Adhere to GameStop policies and the Associate Handbook; follow Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Follow opening and closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Key Skills
Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine, individualized assistance to every guest. Clear verbal and written communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet objectives. Independent and team working capabilities; timely task completion. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Problem-solving, reliability, good judgment, and ability to work under pressure. Ability to stand and move for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs; basic mobility tasks.
