Under the general direction of the Sr. Psychologist, Supv/Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker I, the Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) works in Mental Health Services. The MFT diagnoses and treats mental and emotional disorders within the context of marriage, couples and family systems, within the scope of the applicable Business and Professions Code(s), and license. Incumbents shall refer incarcerated patients to other licensed health care professionals in accordance with standardized procedures. Education: Completion of a master’s degree program from an accredited school for Marriage and Family Therapy, that meets the requirements stipulated in Business and Professional Code 4980.36. Licensure: Possession of a valid license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science. Job duties and PLP 2025 details: Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 19 and related categories to have a 3 percent base salary reduction and receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition based on hours worked. This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent.
