Overview
As a Meat Cutter you will be responsible for preparing and cutting meat products in a retail setting of the grocery store. You are responsible for knowing how to process different cuts of meats with precision and ensuring quality and freshness of all meat products. This position will work in our Portland, Deep River, and East Lyme, CT store. Responsibilities
Receive and inspect meat deliveries to ensure quality and compliance with safety standards Cut, trim and portion various cuts of meats according to the customers request and company standards Grind, season and prepare ground meat products as needed Ensure proper handling, storage and rotation of meats to minimize waste and maintain optimal quality Monitor meat inventory levels and assist in placing orders to maintain sufficient stock Operate and maintain meat processing equipment such as meat grinders, ban saws, slicers and other cutting tools Ensure all equipment is clean, well maintained and in good working order Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines including proper storage, handling and cleaning of equipment Follow health and safety regulations to prevent cross contamination and ensure a hygienic work environment Provide excellent customer service in a timely manner with professionalism to ensure continued customer satisfaction Provide recommendations regarding meat selection, cooking recommendations and fulfill special requests Adhere to all company safety standards Perform other duties as assigned by leadership Ability to work in varying temperature-controlled environments Schedule
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays Experience
Preferred: One (1) year butchery experience or relevant experience ServeSafe certification or comparable Skills
Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; walking on a variety of flooring such as concrete, tile, carpet etc Strong communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis Organizational skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines Team work: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives Safety culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
