Job Description
WSP is currently seeking a
Travel Demand Modeler . This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative and high‑impact projects within our Advisory Services, Systems Analysis Group. You will collaborate with a dynamic team of modelers, planners, and data scientists, helping our clients make strategic, data‑driven decisions that shape the future of transportation systems.
Your Impact
Develop, apply, and maintain state‑of‑the‑art travel demand forecasting models, including regional and statewide model systems.
Deliver data‑driven insights to inform policy, planning, and infrastructure investment decisions, supporting strategic mobility planning.
Integrate and analyze big data, household travel surveys, and emerging mobility datasets to improve models and analytical methods.
Collaborate with public and private planning agencies nationwide, supporting high‑stakes transportation projects.
Translate complex data and model results into clear, compelling visualizations for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Work in a supportive and collaborative team environment that values innovation, mentorship, and professional growth.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Data Science, or a related field.
3 to 5 years of experience in the development and application of travel demand models.
Strong knowledge of travel behavior principles and travel demand forecasting methods.
Proficiency in Python or R for data processing, model scripting, and automation.
Hands‑on experience with travel demand modeling software (e.g., Cube, TransCAD, and EMME).
Experience building automated reporting, visualization and dashboards (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, R Shiny or other visualization tools).
Experience with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar) for spatial analysis and mapping.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings to diverse audiences.
Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree with 2 years of experience or a PhD in a relevant field.
Prior experience in a travel demand modeling consulting role.
Experience developing and applying activity‑based models (ABMs).
Experience with data pipeline development, including cloud‑based workflows and version control.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $90,800 - $121,770
