English Teacher (TOP) (MI, PA, SC, TN, TX, WI)
Oregon Connections Academy – Full‑time, work from home. Candidates must hold a valid state teaching certificate in MI, PA, SC, TN, TX, WI (AP experience preferred). The role is for the 2025‑2026 school year, with potential extension based on enrollment.
Job Summary Adjunct English Teacher will manage online instructional programs for K‑12 students across the U.S. and abroad. Teachers conduct synchronous and asynchronous Web conferencing, grade assignments, and collaborate with students and colleagues to ensure academic success.
Primary Responsibilities
Support the instructional program with synchronous and asynchronous web conferencing sessions using Adobe® Connect™.
Provide prompt, high‑quality, personalized feedback on assignments and complete grading.
Communicate with students, other teachers, and administrators to update pacing plans and schedules.
Use data to monitor assignment completion and facilitate interactions that encourage consistent engagement.
Review curriculum and determine course modifications for students requiring accommodations through IEPs or 504 plans.
Consult with team members and administrators to develop alternative enrichment activities and lesson modifications to increase student understanding.
Develop a general knowledge of the curriculum and a detailed knowledge of the courses for which you are responsible.
Communicate regularly with students via phone, chat, and our WebMail system.
Adhere to all policies regarding protecting students’ well‑being and personal information, including FERPA and copyright laws.
Keep student performance and participation information up‑to‑date by grading assessments and logging contacts.
Hold regular office hours (minimum 3 hrs per week).
Utilize a variety of communication tools to effectively build relationships and promote student success.
Foster community and use a welcoming, warm online voice that is inviting and supportive toward students and families.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Valid state teaching certificate in MI, PA, SC, TN, TX, WI (AP experience preferred).
Traditional teacher preparation program (not alternative certification) at an accredited college or university.
Bachelor’s degree.
Ability to obtain certification in other states as requested.
Provide feedback to students in a timely manner and grade assessments within the required timeframe.
Attend check‑in meetings with supervisor twice per month.
Able to work a full‑time shift covering core business hours, 10 am – 4 pm Eastern time.
Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2‑step authentication.
Capabilities
Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment requiring flexibility, effective prioritization, self‑direction, and creativity.
Understanding of IEP/504 plans and how they can be implemented in a virtual setting.
Strong technology skills (proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Apps preferred).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail, strong time management, and organizational skills.
