Academic Approach focuses on mentoring students and developing their key academic skills through personalized instruction. Join our dedicated team of educators to provide impactful 1-on-1 and classroom teaching. About the Role:
While many students and partners prefer virtual work, we are currently seeking candidates willing to tutor in-person at our Lincoln Park and Winnetka offices or on partner school campuses. This is a part-time role, averaging 8-12 hours per week. Training is expected to begin in August, and commitment for at least one full school year is required. Content Quiz:
Candidates must complete a 30-45 minute untimed quiz covering English and math topics before interview consideration. Training:
Our comprehensive paid training includes synchronous sessions and asynchronous work tailored to each candidate’s pathway. Successful Tutor & Teacher Qualities: Prioritizes students with curiosity, compassion, and enthusiasm Maintains a growth mindset, applying best instructional practices Acts professionally and collaborates effectively with students and colleagues What We Offer: Competitive pay: $30/hr for 1-on-1 tutoring, $47/hr for classroom instruction, with potential increases bi-annually. Winnetka tutoring pay starts at $45/hr. Flexible scheduling to support student needs Paid training, coaching, and professional development Access to proprietary curriculum and materials Travel compensation for commutes over 15 miles and 30 minutes Supportive, respectful culture focused on student success Key Responsibilities: Deliver engaging test prep and academic instruction to high school and some middle school students Build supportive, professional relationships Maintain accurate schedules in Outlook Respond promptly to stakeholders Demonstrate classroom management in remote and in-person settings Attend training and professional development events Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in any subject Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and educational equity Passion for student success Ability to teach English, math, reading, and science; all tutors must teach ACT subjects Reliable internet with at least 100 Mbps download/upload and a computer with webcam and mic Availability of at least 10 hours per week
