Job Summary Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, you will provide private and group swim instruction to clients, maintain a safe learning environment, achieve personal revenue goals, and deliver exceptional customer service and hospitality to members and guests.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide instruction and give specific, corrective feedback during each session.
Design and deliver effective, rewarding swim sessions and workouts.
Conduct swim evaluations to help parents choose the best program and support client retention.
Maintain accurate, current progress records in accordance with progression guidelines.
Enforce all pool rules and club policies.
Maintain a consistent work schedule and arrive punctually for sessions.
Communicate effectively with parents, members, and staff.
Track attendance, hours worked, and sessions in required systems.
Participate in events, program meetings, and training, including in‑service sessions.
Assist with maintenance and cleanliness of the aquatics center.
Represent the club professionally in image, dress, and communication.
Qualifications
Current Lifeguard, CPR, and AED certification for adults, infants, and toddlers.
Strong knowledge of learn‑to‑swim best practices, competitive technique, and child development.
Experience teaching swim lessons for all ages.
Sales and marketing knowledge, including promotion and service selling techniques.
Problem anticipation and deductive reasoning skills.
Excellent oral comprehension and expression.
Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, club systems).
Instructor Tiers
Master Swim Instructor
– Minimum 60 lessons per month (average 6 months).
Elite Swim Instructor
– 4+ years of experience preferred; Minimum 80 lessons per month.
Ultimate Swim Instructor
– 6+ years of experience preferred; Minimum 100 lessons per month.
Working Conditions
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Requires flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Public contact with swimmers, members, and staff.
Frequent use of hands, arms, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
Periodic sitting, walking, and hearing tasks.
