We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Immunology and Respiratory Discovery Group in the Research Department at our U.S. headquarters in Ridgefield, CT. The main responsibility of this position is to support biomarker discovery and disease‑positioning efforts through the computational analysis of multi‑omic spatial biology datasets to characterize the progression of human disease and its relationship with therapeutically relevant proteins and pathways. This will involve evaluating, implementing, and integrating spatial analysis algorithms and developing computational workflows to manage the resulting data.

As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will conduct independent research under the guidance of an experienced Principal Investigator and be supported by a team of experts committed to your success. You will collaborate with a diverse range of individuals, fostering a collaborative research environment that facilitates the exchange of knowledge and ideas. Your work will focus on fundamental scientific questions and new methodologies that align with the goals of the department and contribute to Boehringer‑Ingelheim’s innovative pipeline. You will be expected to present your work to internal leadership and publish your findings in leading journals. Postdoctoral Fellowships are three‑year positions, with a potential one‑year extension.

Duties & Responsibilities

Design and conduct your own independent research projects.

Collaborate with researchers within and outside Boehringer Ingelheim.

Effectively communicate and defend your work in the context of team and department goals, both orally and in writing.

Establish an international reputation in your area of expertise through publications and conference participation.

Publish first‑author manuscripts and/or patent novel technologies/processes.

Develop new methodologies, protocols, and test procedures that contribute to core group/research goals.

Understand R&D team goals and work effectively toward achieving them.

Prepare clear technical reports, publications, oral presentations, and update senior management as needed.

Develop expertise in a specific project‑relevant area or technology and provide guidance to advance projects.

Stay abreast of relevant literature and contribute to visibility outside the functional area.

Assume responsibility for direct reports as needed, including recruiting, mentoring, and developing scientific staff.

Comply with all applicable regulations, ensuring safe and compliant work practices and accurate record‑keeping.

Contribute to departmental administration and demonstrate fiscal responsibility regarding costs of experiments, technology, external collaborations, and travel.

Requirements

Ph.D. in a related discipline, with a preference for no more than three years of prior Postdoctoral experience.

High competency in programming (Python or R) and computational biology tools for high‑dimensional data analysis.

Experience in spatial biology, systems biology, or quantitative image analysis is desirable.

Knowledge of multiplex immunohistochemistry and in‑situ hybridization techniques.

Extensive scientific expertise and a strong publication record.

Strategic and tactical thinking abilities.

Creativity and innovation in driving cutting‑edge research.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compliance with safety and regulatory standards, maintaining proper SOP records.

Familiarity with immunology, autoimmune, and autoinflammatory diseases is desirable.

Eligibility Requirements

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

Must be willing to take a drug test and post‑offer physical (if required).

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Compensation Data
