Overview

Crew Chief-Level Archaeologist (BLM Southeast Region) – On-call position based out of Albuquerque or Las Cruces, New Mexico or El Paso, Texas. The general statewide crew chief permit is required. This is an on-call position. Your Impact

Authors technical reports and cultural resource documents with clarity and minimal grammatical or spelling errors. Conduct cultural resources fieldwork, reporting, and mitigation in support of pre-construction project design and engineering. Conduct data QAQC reviews. Assist with all aspects of fieldwork, monitoring, data collection, inventory, analyses, site form preparation, and report production. Conduct pre-field Class I records reviews. Demonstrated commitment to staying current in knowledge of cultural resources management and Section 106 regulations and planning practices. Required Qualifications

Qualified to work as a BLM Southeast Region Crew Chief; also holds a general statewide New Mexico Crew Chief permit. Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Cultural Resources Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience meeting the Secretary of the Interior’s standards). 3 to 5 years of experience in the cultural resource management field, environmental planning, environmental surveys, impact assessments, and regulatory compliance for projects related to transportation, energy development, zoning, and tribal or federal land activities. Strong demonstrated ability with cultural resource management report writing. Knowledge of public and private sector requirements and practices for cultural resources surveys. Ability to travel out of the immediate area and to work outside of regular hours if needed. Ability to travel at short notice for 2-5 days at a time. Ability to navigate and collect data using GPS equipment. Good organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities and attention to detail. Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others and presenting ideas effectively to technical and non-technical audiences. Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools. Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to be listed on federal and state cultural resource permits in New Mexico as Crew Chief. Experience with ArcGIS or AGOL field maps software. Familiarity with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and state/local environmental rules and related reporting requirements. About WSP
