Inside Higher Ed This full-time, tenure-track faculty position is responsible for teaching and coordinating the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program core curricula. The faculty/coordinator will participate in the recruitment and retention of students; procure program material and instructional resources; have oversight of program accreditation and the advisory committee; and be responsible for the ongoing development, assessment, and revision of the programs’ curricula. Summary Statement The faculty/coordinator for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program reports directly to and is responsible to Health Sciences Division Director. The faculty/coordinator will provide guidance to adjunct faculty assigned to teach courses in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Essential Duties
Prepare for and teach a designated number of credits per fall and spring semesters with the possibility of summer semesters. Assess learning outcomes at the course, discipline, program and college levels. Advise students on courses, program, and career objectives with support. Commit to student learning and success and be available to help students as needed to maximize student success and retention. Develop and revise curriculum to keep current with standards. Promote the discipline or program to students and the local community. Participate in all levels of shared College governance. Maintain an approved professional development plan that supports the College's strategic goals and improves instructional quality. Major Duties Of Position
Contribute to the development, assessment, and revision of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program curricula. Initiate new courses and provide oversight in acquiring and maintaining equipment and supplies. Work with regulatory and accreditation bodies to ensure program compliance. Deliver student-centered courses and develop and evaluate instructional materials. Participate in student outcome assessment projects and advise students in and outside the classroom. Education And Experience Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Must have a current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential and one or more of concentrations; have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in education theories and techniques; and have a minimum of three years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field. Skills And Abilities Strong organizational and writing skills; attention to detail, with excellent advising/counseling skills. Ability to establish good working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community. Working Environment Traditional classroom/lab/clinical learning environment.
