Department Information School of Arts & Sciences

Job Summary The School of Arts & Sciences seeks a dynamic candidate for a temporary, non-tenure-track faculty position in Biology. This is a 5-month contract expected to begin January 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

Develop and Teach a variety of courses in biology ranging from general education courses to upper-division courses for Biological Sciences and Environmental Science majors.

Maintain on-campus office hours; prepare lesson plans, syllabi (including course objectives), lectures, and other course materials such as quizzes and exams; and submit final grades and attendance reports on time.

Some online teaching may be required, as needed

Travel may be required to fulfill instructional or service duties, including to the Brunswick Campus or the Camden Center location.

Commitment to high-impact educational practices.

Perform related work as required.

Qualifications Educational Requirements

M.S. in Biology or a closely related discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Biology or closely related fields.

Other Required Qualifications

Commitment to highly effective/engaging science education.

Commitment to implementing experiential learning and high-impact educational practices in the classroom, lab, and/or field.

Required Experience

Successful teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications

Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related discipline.

Preferred Experience

Experience in coastal and marine ecology.

Experience with in-person and online/hybrid instruction.

Recent experience teaching college-level courses in biology.

Experience mentoring undergraduate research.

Experience developing and implementing innovative pedagogy.
