Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 5322) at GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations and develops a sales culture by providing outstanding guest service experiences and product knowledge to guests. Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, and circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests. Support the total shopping environment, including visual/operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using POS system, including giving receipts and ensuring high-quality guest service. Respond to guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document feedback in Workday/HR in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening/closing shifts; ensure associates know policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics. Schedule store associates, manage staffing for optimal guest service, and supervise in the Store Manager’s absence. Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, merchandising, and ensure fixtures/equipment are working properly. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ship daily. Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as needed and report concerns to the Store Manager. Support sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete administrative and operational duties. Conduct stock counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the floor. Balance and reconcile daily transactions; manage cash, change, and bank deposits per guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct inventories, and communicate issues to management. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; label boxes and include packing lists. Maintain safety awareness and report injuries per guidelines. Maintain store records/files; ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders when the Store Manager is absent. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures and opening/closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business/marketing/merchandising preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales/guest service/management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Key Skills and Abilities
Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine and individualized assistance to guests. Clear verbal and written communication skills; English required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and both independently and in a team. Meet performance expectations, including attendance, safety, and respectful workplace conduct. Operate POS system and basic mathematics; complete required paperwork properly. Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Adapt to pressure and be a problem solver; reliable and trustworthy. Able to work alone; stand/move for up to 12 hours; lift up to 30 lbs; perform physical tasks as required.
