Overview
Our client, a leading global investment bank, is seeking a
bilingual Japanese/English Equity Trader or Sales Trader
to join their U.S. Cash Equities team. This is a rare opportunity to work at the front line of U.S. and international equity markets, supporting institutional order flow from Japan, Asia, and global affiliates.
Key Responsibilities
Assist senior traders with execution of U.S. equity orders (with some exposure to Canadian and LATAM equities).
Communicate directly with clients and affiliates in Japan and Asia regarding trading instructions and market updates.
Ensure accurate coordination across front, middle, and back office functions for seamless pre- and post-trade operations.
Troubleshoot and resolve trading issues, including system or coding problems, under time-sensitive conditions.
Provide regular reporting and updates to colleagues in Japan.
Qualifications
Bilingual Japanese (native level oral & written) and English (business level, oral & written)
– required.
Bachelor’s degree (Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or Finance preferred).
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and ability to perform under pressure.
Recent graduate up to ~3 years’ experience in trading or sales trading preferred (training available for the right candidate).
Licensing:
FINRA SIE, Series 7, and 63 required (if not already held, must obtain after joining). Series 57 & 3 may be obtained post-hire with firm sponsorship.
Familiarity with regulatory reporting (short selling, Reg SHO, etc.) a plus.
Willingness to work in-office
5 days per week
in New York.
Other Details
Regular working hours: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM (EST). Additional communication with Japan/Asia required during their market hours.
