Accounting Associate – Withholding Tax ! About the role
As an
Accounting Associate – Withholding Tax , you will support the Symetra Tax team by performing key accounting tasks focused on withholding tax and information reporting compliance for our individual life, retirement, and group life & disability products. This role will also contribute to projects across the finance department. What you will do
Prepare ad-hoc journal entries and provide other basic accounting related support to ensure withholding compliance for Symetra’s Individual Life, Retirement, and Workforce Benefits products Prepare monthly state withholding reconciliations and accounting journal entries as needed to support state withholding return filings and financial reporting compliance. Prepare monthly variance reports comparing withholding tax balances between ledger and information reporting software (Thomson Reuters Onesource) Assist with special projects and research to support department initiatives Maintain process and procedure documentation to support maintenance of department function. Salary Range: $26.30 - $43.87/hourly plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program. Who You Are:
High School Diploma is required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred. 1+ years’ work related experience required. Familiar with key tax forms such as Forms 945, 941, 1099, 1042-S, W-2, W-8, and W-9, with a focus on withholding tax compliance preferred Able to think critically, solve problems creatively, and contribute to process improvements Have a foundational understanding of GAAP accounting principles Highly organized with strong attention to detail An effective communicator with excellent written and verbal skills Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel Remote work requirements
